On November 5, 2013, a man took his 4-year-old
daughter hostage and barricaded himself in a
car with a gun at Hamburg Airport in Germany.
After several hours of persuasion by police,
the man surrendered without resistance.
The airport had suspended takeoffs and landings
during the incident.
The man who was barricaded was a 35-year-old
Turkish man.
The man got into an argument with the man’s
daughter’s mother over custody and drove his
car through a restricted area onto the tarmac.
The man pointed his gun upwards and fired two
shots, threw two Molotov cocktails out of
the car, and then parked his car and barricaded
himself under the Turkish plane.
