On December 16, 2022, the U.S. Food and Drug
Administration announced that it had approved
the first edible meat product cultured from
animal cells.
The meat product will be available for sale on
the market after being inspected by the
Department of Agriculture.
However, this review is supposed to be applied
only to Upside’s products.
But the US Food and Drug Administration said
it is open to working with other companies in
the future.
There is a growing demand for meat alternatives
to livestock farming.
２０２２年１２月１６日、動物の細胞から培養した
肉製品を初めて食用として認可したことを米食品
医薬品局が発表しました。
この肉製品は、農務省の検査した後に市場で発売
できるようになるということです。
但し、この審査はアップサイド社の製品にのみ適用
されることになっています。
しかし、今後は他の企業とも協力する用意がある
ことを米食品医薬品局は述べています。
これまでの家畜飼育に代わって、畜産肉の代替品に
需要が高まっています。
