The Vikings are armed fleets of pirates who appeared
on the coasts of Western Europe such as England and
France for about 250 years from the 9th century.
Vikings are northern Germanic farmers and fishermen
living in Scandinavia and the Baltic Sea coastal regions.
The Vikings started out as piracy by attacking merchant
ships.
However, they gradually emigrated to other places and
started looting.
In a short period of time, Bucking came to dominate
Western European countries such as Great Britain, France
and Ireland.
Viking ships were narrow and elongated.
As a result, the water became shallower and they were
able to move at high speed.
Dozens of people boarded one ship and made a group.
After losing the Battle of Brunnamburg, the Vikings
were gradually weakened.
Finally, many Vikings left England and returned to
Scandinavia.
バイキングとは、９世紀から約２５０年間にわたって
イギリスやフランスなど西ヨーロッパ各地の海岸に
出現して、海賊行為をしていた武装船団の人々の
ことです。
バイキングは、スカンディナヴィア、バルト海沿岸地域
に住んでいる北方系ゲルマン人の農民や漁民です。
バイキングは、最初の頃は、航海中の商船を襲う海賊行為
をしていました。
しかし、次第に他の各地へ移住したり、略奪行為を行う
ようになりました。
バキングは、わずかの期間で、イギリス、フランス、
アイルランドの西ヨーロッパ諸国を広く支配することに
なりました。
バイキングの船は、横幅が狭くて細長い形状をしていました。
そのため、水深も浅くなり、高速で進むことができました。
１隻の船には、数十人が乗船してグループを作っていました。
ブルナンブルクの戦いに敗れた後は、バイキングは次第に
兵力が弱まっていきました。
そして、最後には、多くのバイキングたちがイギリスを離れて、
スカンジナビアに戻っていきました。
