Michelangelo was an Italian Renaissance sculptor,
painter, architect, poet and social activist.
Michelangelo is one of the most influential artists
in the history of Western art.
He is, like Leonardo da Vinci, the quintessential
Renaissance all-rounder.
The most famous of Michelangelo’s sculptures are
the “David" and the “Pieta" in St. Peter’s Basilica.
Both works were created when he was in his twenties.
Also the “Last Judgment" painted on the walls of
the Sistine Chapel is known.
Michelangelo lived to be 89 years old.

彫刻家、画家、建築家、詩人、社会活動家です。
ミケランジェロは、西洋美術史上のあらゆる分野に、
大きな影響を与えた芸術家です。
彼は、レオナルド・ダ・ヴィンチと同様に、
ルネサンス期の典型的な万能の人です。
ミケランジェロの彫刻で最も有名なのは、「ダヴィデ像」
とサン・ピエトロ大聖堂に展示されている「ピエタ」です。
いづれの作品も彼が２０代のときに手がけたものです。
また、システィーナ礼拝堂の壁に描かれている"最後の審判"
も知られています。
ミケランジェロは、８９歳の高齢まで生きていました。
