紫外線から守っています。
オゾンは酸素原子が３個から成り立っていて、これは
空気中の酸素が紫外線の働きによって変化してできた
ものです。
太陽から降り注いでくる紫外線は、生物にとっては
有害です。
オゾン層は、この紫外線が地上に降り注いでくるのを
遮断しているのです。
また、オゾン層が太陽からの紫外線を吸収することに
より、成層圏の大気を暖める効果があります。
オゾン層が作られたために、地上では生き物が誕生する
ような環境は作られたのです。
最近では、南極の上空で、オゾン層の一部が薄くなって、
オゾン層にいくつかの穴が開いていることが分かって
きました。
