A prison in Ecuador, South America, was
occupied by inmates.
The police and military then mobilized
security forces to storm the prison and
subdue the inmates.
Previously, inmates had taken prison
officers and staff hostage.
Here, security forces rushed in, arresting
1,105 people and dismantling 28 criminal
organizations.
The president declared a state of emergency
and ordered the destruction of gangs and
other criminal organizations.
