The Rocky Mountains are a mountain range that
stretches across western North America from
northwest to southeast.
There are many emerald lakes in the vast
coniferous forest.
The Rocky Mountains get steeper as you go north.
Water draining from mountains creates rivers and
lakes and accounts for a quarter of the water
resources in the United States.
There are many high mountains over 3000 meters here,
the highest peak is Long’s Peak at 4345 meters.
At the top of the mountain, alpine plants are in
bloom, forming a tundra zone, and near the summit,
you can also see mountain glaciers.
ロッキー山脈は、北アメリカ大陸西部を北西から
南東に横たわっている山脈です。
広大な針葉樹の森にはエメラルド色の湖が数多く
存在しています。
ロッキー山脈は、北へ行くほど険しい岩山となって
います。
山から流れ出した水は、河川や湖を作り出して
アメリカ国内の水源の1/4を占めています。
ここには、3000メートルを超す多くの高山が存在
していて、最高峰は、標高が4345メートルの
ロングズ・ピークという山です。
山の上部には、高山植物が咲いていて、ツンドラ
地帯になっていて、山頂付近では山岳氷河も見られ
ます。
