■アイガー北壁

Eiger, along with Jungfrau and Mönch, is one
of Switzerland’s leading mountains and
has an altitude of 3970m.
In particular, the north wall of the Eiger is
a rock wall, which is one of the difficult routes
to climb the Alps along with the north wall of
the Matterhorn and the north wall of Grandes
Jorasses.
The north wall of the Eiger has been climbed by
many climbers so far.
Half of the climbs are successful, but the rest
are unsuccessful and dozens of people have died.
There have been many mountaineers trying to reach
the summit of the north wall of the Eiger because
it is difficult.
A movie set in Eiger includes “The Eiger Sanction"
starring Clint Eastwood.
アイガーは、ユングフラウ、メンヒと並び、
スイスを代表する山であり、標高は３９７０ｍ
です。
特に、アイガー北壁は岩壁になっていて、
マッターホルン北壁およびグランド・ジョラス
北壁とともにアルプスを登山する場合の困難な
ルートの１つです。
アイガーの北壁にはこれまでに多くの登山者に
よって登頂が行われています。
登頂の半分は成功していますが、あとは、失敗して
何十名もの死者を出しています。
アイガー北壁は、困難だからこそ登頂に挑む登山家が
これまでにも多くいました。
アイガーを舞台とした映画には、クリント・
イーストウッド主演した「アイガー・サンクション」
があります。
