Charles Lindbergh flew between New York and
Paris on a propeller plane in 1927,
and he made his first successful solo
non-landing flight over the Atlantic Ocean.
The name of the plane he boarded is
Spirit of
St. Louis.
On May 20, 1927, the 25-year-old Lindberg
plane took off from Roosevelt Airfield.
During the flight, he has been fighting
drowsiness for over 33 hours.
The airplane at that time did not have an
autopilot.
If the pilot fell asleep, he would have
become uncontrollable and crashed.
Finally he overcame sleepiness and
he was able to land at Le Bourget Airport
in Paris.

he has become a world-famous celebrity.
