Werner von Braun is the person who developed the
\nV2 rocket, a German retaliatory weapon during
\nWorld War II.
\nVon Braun entered the Technical University of
\nBerlin in 1930 and later joined the German Space
\nTravel Association.
\nHere he helped test Hermann Oberth’s liquid-propellant
\nrocket engine.
\nIn May 1945, when Germany was certain to be defeated
\nby the Allies, he fled to America.
\nThe first thing he developed in America was the
\nRedstone Rocket.
\nVon Braun is the first director of NASA’s Marshall
\nSpace Flight Center.
\nAfter that, he was in charge of rocket development
\nin the Apollo program to send humans to the moon.<\/p>\n
