On February 7, 2023, Mitsubishi Heavy
Industries announced that it would abandon
its long-term development of the MRJ,
the first domestically produced passenger
jet.
In 18 years, we invested 1 trillion yen and
conducted 3,900 hours of flight tests.
The president of Mitsubishi talks about the
cause of the defeat, saying that preparation
and knowledge were insufficient.
For both Mitsubishi and Japanese industry,
the suspension of development was a huge loss.
The aircraft business requires a large amount
of funds for the development and sales of
aircraft, as well as the maintenance of
after-sales service environments.
For this reason, the aircraft business is
also a difficult field for new entrants.
２０２３年２月７日に、三菱重工業は、長年に
わたって開発してきた初の国産ジェット旅客機
であるMRJの開発を断念すると発表しました。
１８年間に投資した資金は１兆円に上り、
３９００時間の飛行試験を行いました。
三菱の社長は、準備と知見が足りなかったと
敗因の原因を語っています。
三菱にとっても、日本の産業界にとっても、
この開発中止は、大きな損失でした。
航空機事業は、機体の開発と販売やアフター
サービスの環境整備に多額の資金が必要になり
ます。
このため、航空機事業は、新規参入が難しい
分野でもあります。
