Everest is the highest mountain in the world
with an altitude of 8,850m in the Himalayas.
The altitude of Everest so far was 8,848m,
but the measurement accuracy has improved
and it has been updated.
Everest is called Sagarmatha in Nepali
and Qomolangma in Tibetan.
Everest was first climbed in 1953 by British
climbers Hillary and Tenzing.
Mount Everest on the border of Nepal and Tibet
was formed millions of years ago when the
Indian and Eurasian plates collided.
In this way, the current Himalayas were created
by the compression of the geology by collisions.
エベレストは、ヒマラヤ山脈にある標高８,８５０ｍ
の世界最高峰の山です。
エベレストのこれまでの標高は、８,８４８ｍで
あったのが、測定精度が上がり更新されました。
エベレストは、ネパール語ではサガルマータと呼ばれ、
また、チベット語ではチョモランマと呼ばれています。
１９５３年に、イギリス探検隊の登山家である
ヒラリーとテンジンによってエベレストを初登頂
しました。
ネパールとチベットの国境に高くそびえている
エベレストは、数千万年前にインドプレートと
ユーラシアプレートが衝突してできたものです。
このようにして、衝突によって地質が圧縮されること
により現在のヒマラヤ山脈ができ上がっています。
