Antonín Dvořák is a leading composer of the Czech
national music school of the late Romantic period.
Dvorak’s talent was discovered by Brahms, and he
suddenly became a popular composer with the release
of “Slavonic Dances".
Dvořák was initially hesitant when he was invited to
become the director of the American Conservatory.
However, if he went to America, he would be able to
see his favorite locomotive, so he decided to go
to America.
During his stay in America, he presented his Symphony
No. 9 “New World".
Dvořák himself says that this music is different from
his previous music and that he wrote it in an American
style.
アントニン・ドボルザークは、後期ロマン派に
位置するチェコ国民楽派を代表する作曲家です。
ドボルザークは、ブラームスに才能を見いだされ、
『スラヴ舞曲集』の発表でで一躍人気作曲家と
なりました。
ドボルザークは、アメリカの音楽院院長になるように
誘われたのですが、当初は迷っていました。
しかし、もしも彼がアメリカへ行けば、大好きな
機関車を見ることができるということで、アメリカ行き
を決意しました。
アメリカでの滞在において、彼は交響曲第９番「新世界」
を発表しました。
ドボルザーク自身は、この曲はこれまでの曲とは異なり、
アメリカ風に作曲していると言っています。
