On May 4, 2023, exactly 30 years have
passed since the huge explosion occurred
in Las Vegas.
Over the past few days, reports looking
back on this historic catastrophe have
been carried out not only locally in
Las Vegas, but also across the United
States.
This incident occurred at a chemical
factory located approximately 15 km
in a straight line southeast of the
hotel district of Las Vegas.
Approximately 4,000 tons of rocket fuel,
which was manufactured and stored at this
factory and is used in space shuttles and
other vehicles, exploded.
According to NASA and various news
organizations, this accident was the
largest explosion in human history,
excluding nuclear explosions.
この２０２３年５月４日は、ラスベガスで
大爆発が起きてからちょうど３０年が経過
したことになります。
地元ラスベガスではもちろんのこと、全米規模
で、ここ数日、この歴史的大惨事を振り返る
検証報道などが行われています。
これは、ラスベガスのホテル街から南東方向に
直線距離で約１５km の地点に存在していた化学
工場での出来事でした。
この工場で製造および貯蔵していた、スペース
シャトルなどに使われる約 4000トンのロケット
燃料が爆発したのです。
NASA や各報道機関などによると、この事故は、
核爆発を除けば、人類史上最大級のエネルギー
を放った大爆発とのことです。
