So far, 80 people have died in the Maui,
Hawaii wildfires on August 8, 2023.
More than 2,200 buildings are believed to
have been damaged so far in tourist areas
in the western part of the country, and
there are concerns that the impact will
be prolonged.
At the time of the wildfire, the strong
winds associated with the hurricane quickly
spread the flames across the city.
Local authorities announced that more than
1,400 people had evacuated to high schools
and churches.
Food and water were being distributed at
this evacuation site.
２０２３年８月８日にハワイのマウイ島で
起きた山火事による死者はこれまでに80人
にのぼります。
被害が大きい西部の観光地では、これまでに
2200棟以上の建物が損壊したとみられていて、
影響の長期化が懸念されています。
この山火事の起きた当時に、ハリケーンに
伴う強風にあおられて市街地に急速に燃え広
がっています。
地元当局は、高校や教会などに1400人あまり
が避難したと発表しました。
この避難場所では、食料や水の配布が行われて
いました。
