On March 30, 1981, then-President Ronald
Reagan was shot in Washington, D.C.
Reagan was shot by John Hinckley, a student
at Texas Tech University.
He was already in a nervous breakdown on
the day of the incident.
Hinckley had originally planned to shoot
inside the conference hall, but due to
heavy security, Hinckley decided to
avoid this and instead shoot outside the
venue surrounded by a large crowd.
The bullet he shot hit the body of the
private car, then ricocheted and hit Reagan
in the left chest.
