この島は、モアイが建っている島として有名

モアイの名前は、１９世紀の後半に実際に
島にたどり着いたポリネシア人が付けたもの
です。
現在、立っているイースター島のモアイ像は
近年になってから倒れていたものを立て直した
ものです。
モアイ像は、南アメリカからやって来た人々の
力で建てられたと言われています。
