John F. Kennedy was the Democratic nominee for
president in the 1960 US presidential election.
He was elected by a narrow margin after a historic
close race with rival Republican Richard Nixon.
The following year, Kennedy was inaugurated as the
35th President of the United States at the age of 43.
He also became the first Irish-American president.
Kennedy’s handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis
averted the danger of a full-scale nuclear war
between the United States and the Soviet Union.
Kennedy also invented the Apollo program to send
humans to the moon.
On Friday, November 22, 1963, President Kennedy was
shot dead in his car during a parade in Dallas, Texas.
Oswald, the suspect in the shooting, was shot dead
by Jack Ruby an hour after the shooting.
With the suspect’s death, the truth of the case has
been shrouded in darkness.

1963年11月22日の金曜日に、ケネディ大統領はテキサス州
のダラスの街で車でパレード中に銃撃されて死亡しました。
発砲事件の容疑者であるオズワルドは、事件の１時間後に
ジャック・ルビーによって銃撃されて死亡しました。
容疑者が死亡したことにより、事件の真相は闇に葬られ
ました。
