Habits and manners that are common sense in
Japan are often strangely different overseas.
For example, except for Japan, the United Kingdom
and Australia, cars drive on the right side.
At the traffic lights in Japan, it is blue, yellow,
and red, but in the United States, it is green
instead of blue.
In Japan, it is impossible to walk on the floor of
a house with shoes on.
However, overseas, most people live in shoes even
at home.
It seems that they only take off their shoes when
they take a bath or when they go to bed.
For Japanese people, at home, they want to get rid
of their cramped shoes as soon as possible.
日本では常識であるような習慣やマナーが海外では
不思議に思えるほど違うことが多くあります。
例えば、日本、イギリス、オーストラリア以外は、
車は右側通行です。
日本の信号では、青と黄と赤ですが、アメリカでは
青ではなくて緑です。
日本では、家の中の床を靴を履いたまま歩くなどは
ありえないことなのです。
しかし、海外では、家の中でも靴を履いて生活する
場合がほとんどです。
靴を脱ぐのは、入浴するときか、ベッドに入るとき
だけのようです。
日本人にとっては家の中では、窮屈な靴を早く脱ぎ捨て
たいと思うでしょう。
