The accident occurred on May 6, 1937
at Lakehurst Navy Airfield in New Jersey, USA.
When Hindenburg, a German airship, lands
there was a big explosion on the verge.
In this accident, 36 crew members, passengers
and ground workers died.
The airships at that time did not use the helium
gas as they do today, but hydrogen gas.
Even a small fire can lead to a big explosion.
It can be said that the accident was predicted
from the beginning.
At this time, when the announcer was broadcasting
the radio, and he was crying and telling the story.
After this explosion, of course, an airship with
hydrogen service will be canceled.
1937年5月6日にアメリカ・ニュージャージー州の
レイクハースト海軍飛行場での出来事です。
ドイツの飛行船であるヒンデンブルク号が着陸
寸前に大爆発を起こしました。
この事故で、乗員と乗客と地上の作業員を合わせて
３６名が死亡しました。
当時の飛行船は現在のようなヘリウムガスではなく、
水素ガスを使っていました。
ちょっした発火でも大爆発の事故につながるため、
初めから予測されていた事故と言えるでしょう。
このとき、ラジオ中継をしていたアナウンサーは
泣きながら実況を伝えていました。
この爆発事故以降は、当然ながら、水素による飛行船
の運行は中止されることになりました。
